About Teach Your Children
In 2002, after observing a need for educational supplies in my local community and beyond, I decided to open Teach Your Children .
I am a life learner with a background in science and philosophy. I have also spent a lot of time helping out in classrooms, from preschool to junior high. These experiences, combined with my love for learning, helped spark my desire to create Teach Your Children.
In recent years, I have observed and have been excited by a growing trend towards educational gifts for children. More and more parents, grandparents and teachers seem to be interested in games and activities that stimulate the mind. Children also agree that learning is fun. A sixth grader will honestly tell you that he really got a rush from solving a logic puzzle that tickled his brain. A toddler will squeal with delight after successfully matching colors and shapes.
My wife Tracy, a seasoned teacher, has been instrumental in the building of Teach Your Children. She is the eyes and ears of the elementary teachers, guiding me in my selection of resources (especially books), keeping me up to date on curriculum changes, and even letting me know about the hottest new decorative for livening up a classroom. Being a true "family business," our children also help around the store, either modeling the latest game for customers or making art samples.
At Teach Your Children, I've gathered together items I feel add to the educational atmosphere of the classroom or home. I've combined up-to-date standards-based resource books with hands-on brain bending toys and games in all subjects. I try my hardest to get things the kids will find exciting, new, and wild so they'll be coming back begging for more learning fun. I believe if there's one thing we are still allowed to invest in, it is our children. After all, as the 1981 Select Panel for the Promotion of Child Health rightly noted, "Children are one third of our population and all of our future."
